Chinese New year by HowXu Chinese New year by HowXu

(Congratulation for making money, happy new year)

Today(2013,2,10) is the first day of Chinese new year(大年初一). Happy Chinese new year, everyone!

For those people who aren't familiar with Chinese new years, allow me explain what is this pic is about.
The game they are playing is "MahJong(wiki: [link])". It is a popular game that are commonly played by adults from various ages. Older ones may play it to keep their brain running(Playing MahJong is recommended to avoid Dementia), younger ones may play it just for fun. However this game could be for gambling as well. Gambling MahJong is prohibited in Taiwan, one may play mahjong in their home but it must not involve money. However, in the period of Chinese new year, the police officers would be less strict about the law, as long as you are not brazenly open a gambling house, they wouldn't mind you play privately with your friends.

So here is it, Celestia held a royal game with some important figure, but if you understand mahjong, you'll know that Celestia, Luna and Chrysalis are in serious trouble.:XD:

Note:
We Taiwanese play 16 tiles mahjong. The winner would win with the 17th completing their set. I know other area may play 13 tiles mahjong. As far as I know, except the number of tiles, there's no significant differences in rule. Though I never really play other countries' mahjong myself.^^;

Well, pretty different from the Japanese Mahjong. I wondered why there were 5 sets in Discord's hand. This would have been a Tsuu Iisou - Dai Suu Shii - Suu Ankou Tanki - Tenhou, in the Japanese Mahjong. %)

Nice drawing !

Wow, Discord obviously has a winning hand, but he only has 5 of the 8 flowers. He's probably waiting for them to be drawn (by him as he's most likely rigged the wall), before calling a win.

Mind you, I only know of the Hong Kong variant (with 13 tiles). I don't know what rules the Taiwan variant has regarding the flower tiles.

Well, obviously, Celestia's losing, Princess Luna's not got anything, Crysalis is deeply concerned about her hand, and that devious... Umm... guy... whatshisname... lol... it'll come back to me... has done it again, and set up all the tiles from the start towards his favor.

The games been rigged!
